Followup – The Wedding Story
So, to followup on my last post. This weekend I performed the marriage ceremony of two close friends. The process started with a trip to get the marriage license down at the Placer County Recorders office. There I was deputized as a Deputy Commissioner of Civil Marriages; authorized to officiate a single marriage ceremony, on a single day. I even got a chance to raise my right hand and swear to uphold the Constitution and everything!
After much editing, writing and rewriting of the text, up to a few hours before the ceremony; we finally came to a acceptable version (which still ended up with a few notes scribbled in the margins) and the event went off without any issues.

I wasn’t even nervous.
It went so well in fact, I had people coming up to me all evening thanking me for the “wonderful ceremony” and asking how many of these I had done! Maybe I have a possible side job? Could be interesting!
The fact that I did this is interesting in itself, a few years ago I would have never accepted such a challenge . . . I mean, I would never speak in front of large groups (I even felt uncomfortable in small groups) . . . amazing how you change and grow as a person over time.
So here’s a quick shot of me after the ceremony (It’s one of the few recent photos of me that I like).
