The Republican War Machine . . .
is heard spinning up in the background, but it’s not just Democrats that are hunkering down for a fight. It seems right-wing conservatives are starting to take aim at President Bush’s Supreme Court nominee John Roberts. It appears that his background isn’t all that controversial, and many Republicans are up in arms! Yes, you read that right, he’s too vanilla for some conservatives!
Hundreds, if not thousands of comentaries have been written on this nomination, all of which make interesting reading material if you’re in need of a good laugh. Ann Coulter’s piece (am I really quoting Ann Coulter??) “Souter in Roberts Clothing” could be read as a hilarious piece of comedy . . . if you don’t take into account that she actually believes this stuff!
Of course the left is not without it’s own spin, though it seems to be a little weak given the Roberts’ bland background.
So the question of the hour is:
-or-
Is President Bush actually doing something right; sticking to his statements and avoiding activist judges?
Only time will tell.
I think Ann Coulter put it best (oh gawd, did I just say that?): “… Bush … has given us a Supreme Court nomination that will placate no liberals and should please no conservatives”.
I say good, let the rest of us in the middle . . . neither liberals nor conservatives, have someone represent us in this increasingly polarized political climate!
