Here’s one for the ‘No Good Deed Goes Unpunsihed’ column . . .

According to this article on CNN.com ‘Girls sued for delivering cookies’, a woman sued her neighbors and won after the two teenagers baked cookies and went around delivering them to neighbors. According to the curmudgeon ’she said she saw “shadowy figures” outside the house banging repeatedly on her door’. Apparently she asked for the person knocking to identify themselves, but no one answered, and the figures ran away. She said was so ‘terrified’ that she spent the night at a sisters house and went to the hospital the next morning because she was ’shaking and had an upset stomach’.

The girls were apparently devastated that someone would sue them for being nice.

The woman continued to show her own lack of judgment when she was quoted by the press as saying:

‘the teenagers showed “very poor judgment”‘

and my favorite . . .

“I’m not gloating about it. I just hope the girls learned a lesson.”

Unfortunately the girls did learn a lesson . . . that there’s always one person out there who’s looking for a good excuse to sue you.

Beware.
