A Very Dark Day in American History . . .

It is a very dark day indeed. Bush has apparently won the Electoral College, and in a dramatic surprise, the popular vote as well!!!!

It’s a sad day when the Christian Right decides the course of a great country based on which candidate has a supposed “testimony to Jesus Christ” and makes the correct mouth gestures towards “God” and “Jesus”.

Come on people!!!! Religion is a deeply personal thing, and should stay that way. Do you (who voted for Bush with the theological issues in mind) realize that the vote that was cast for this President was a vote for war, a vote for isolationism, a vote for a totalitarian regime that is not for the freedom of it’s own people?!?!?!

Is it ok to lie to our country about Iraq? If he can lie about Iraq and “weapons of mass destruction” without any moral issues, what keeps him from lying about his faith to the American public????

There is no independent way to measure one’s faith from their public image. Repeating the line “God Bless America” does not make one moral or deeply religious.

I can list hundreds of reasons to vote the bum out, not the least of which include:

- The lies and deceit perpetrated on the American people by the Bush regime in regards to the Iraq war (Supposed “Weapons of Mass Destruction”)
- The highest deficit in the history of the US (Who is going to pay for that, our children and our childrens children)
- An utter disregard for the freedom and liberty of US citizens (Patriot Act, Patriot Act II, CAPPS II, etc)
- The loss of respect of most of our allies around the world (The Iraq War and the “War on Terrorism”)
- The continuing sputter of the nations economy
- The continuing loss of jobs due to the poor economic conditions and off shoring

Note, none of these reasons include any deeply personal beliefs; they are all hard issues that face the entire nation. They are definitely not personal religious beliefs masquerading as important nationwide issues.

Your religion shouldn’t be an agenda for you beat the rest of the nation into submission. We have a separation between Church and State for a reason.

Now that Bush has been re-elected and the Congress has been tipped even more in the favor of the Republicans, expect to see more liberty eroded, more taxes repealed, an even larger deficit incurred for our children to repay, and more terrorism as Bush alienates an even larger percentage of the world in the name of America.

Fine work for a group that stands on a platform of small government and personal freedoms . . . well, I guess those issues only seem to apply if you live in Iraq or Afghanistan.

It’s Groundhog Day and the nation has seen its shadow . . . here’s to four more years of winter for our great country. May they pass quickly, with as little damage to the “United” States as possible.

We are once again, one nation divided.
